DAY 2 A.M. : EN ROUTE TO PISA

On the way from Milan to Pisa this morning we passed through Carrara, in northern Tuscany. The Carrara marble quarries have been put to use for more than 2000 years and that mountain/cave-based rock is well-known world-wide for its quality. Famous sculptures such as Michelangelo used to visit the region to study the marble in the caves and look for their perfect piece.
